PAYMENT POLICY: Registration in a class is not complete until payment is received by The Folk School, either online through PayPal or by check. If you fill out an online registration form but do not complete your payment promptly, we will not hold your place in the class. If the class fills, we will cancel the registrations of anyone who has not paid to allow others to register.
If a student owes The Folk School money, any new payments will be applied first to outstanding obligations.
CLASS REFUND POLICY: Students who cancel their registration more than 14 days prior to the first day of the class will receive a refund less a $25 administrative fee. Students cancelling their enrollment 14 days or less prior to the first day of the course are not eligible for a refund. If the Folk School Fairbanks cancels a course, students will receive a full refund.
40 BELOW CANCELLATION POLICY: For the safety of instructors and participants, if four hours prior the start of a class or activity the temperature at the Fairbanks Airport reads 40 below or colder (visit: http://www.weatherhq.com/weather-station/fairbanks%2C-fairbanks-international-airport), classes will be canceled. We will do our best to re-schedule classes in this case. If this is not an option, registrants will receive a full refund and instructors will not be paid.
PHOTO/VIDEO RELEASE POLICY: If you agree to the Folk School Fairbanks’ photo/video release policy, you authorize the Folk School Fairbanks to use, reproduce, and/or publish photographs and/or videos that may pertain to you including your image, likeness, and/or voice without compensation. This material may be used in various publications, public affairs releases, public service announcements, or other related endeavors. This authorization is continuous and may only be withdrawn by your specific rescission of this authorization. The Folk School Fairbanks may publish materials, use your name, photograph, and/or make reference to you in any manner that the Folk School Fairbanks deems appropriate to promote and/or publicize their mission.

SCHOLARSHIPS: It is our desire at The Folk School that as many people as possible who want to be a part of any class, workshop, or any other event or program be able to do so, even if not financially able. To that end, we offer a partial scholarship program. As we build up this scholarship program and actively try to find donors who will support it, we are offering one position in select classes for a 50% discount on the class registration fee. (Class materials and other fees are not covered.) The student must be a current member of The Folk School, and in good standing with all previous obligations paid in full. A maximum of one scholarship is available in each selected class, which will be indicated in the online class description. The scholarship for a class will go to the first qualified applicant who requests it for a class, and a scholarship is available to any student only once in any calendar year.
Please: Only request a scholarship if you desire to take a class but are unable to pay the full cost for it. It is our intention that this program support those who have limited financial resources that would prevent their participation.
To apply, please send an email to our Programs Director at firstname.lastname@example.org. Provide the student’s full name, parent’s name if the student is a minor, email address and phone number, the name of the class for which you want the scholarship, the dates of the class, and a few sentences about why you need the scholarship or how it will benefit your child. Incomplete information may delay your request and cause you to miss getting the single scholarship for the class.
If you would like to make a donation to The Folk School to support the scholarship program, please see our Donate to the Folk School page, indicating the purpose of your donation. Thank you!
