Introduction to Spindle Turning

Instructor: Charles Simmons

 

Learn how to turn a fantastic table leg! This course will provide the basis for the ability to make a wide range of projects, such as furniture legs, knobs and lamps. Basic technical skills for lathe tool use will be explained, with gouge and skew use being the focus.

This is not a bowl class! It will teach using the lathe for anything between centers. You will learn basic tool use, mounting on the lathe, cutting coves, curves and v-cuts. Elements of design will also be discussed. The price for this class includes all materials.

Age range: 15 to geezers

Prerequisites:  none – this class is for beginning

Location: The Folk School Shop
