Storyteller Workshop (7 session course)

Instructor: Robert Prince

Are you boring at parties? Have you noticed people nodding off as you spin an epic yarn? We have the cure for your boring stories! The producers of the popular Dark Winter Nights: True Stories from Alaska will share the lessons they have learned about telling better true stories in this Folk School-exclusive storytelling course.

Part of being human is the desire to share experiences through story telling.

Many of us have the desire to tell stories, but not everyone has the experience and knowledge to engage the audience in an entertaining manner.

During this 7-session class, students will gain an in-depth understanding about:

  • Determining what an audience wants in a story
  • Designing and structuring of good stories
  • Delivering/Performing of a good story

Students will have the opportunity to practice these skills and receive immediate feedback during each session.

As a celebration of the learning, students will have the opportunity to participate in a final live performance (optional) the week of February 20th.

Dates of the class: Tuesdays and Thursdays from January 30  – February 20

Time of the class: 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm each session

Maximum number of students: 20

Minimum number of students: 8

Age range: 18 and up

Prerequisites: none

Location: The Folk School

Cost: $150 (members); $225 (non-members)
