Adventures in Woodworking
(Woodworking for Young Folks)
Instructor: John Manthei
The goal of this program, in addition to having fun making cool stuff, is to begin developing proficiency in a wide range of woodworking tools and techniques (in some cases expanding on what we already know). This kit of skills is a stepping stone to further explorations into craft of all kinds.
As is the case with building almost anything; design, aesthetics, math and physics play a role. The nature of projects we undertake are tailored to the evolving skill levels and interests of the students. It may be necessary for students to work on their projects outside of class time. Arrangements will be made for use of the school shop under staff supervision.
This program is currently divided into two separate age groups: Adventures in Woodworking I (8 – 10 years of age) and Adventures in Woodworking II (11-14 years of age). We have plans to add a more advanced section in the Spring if there is sufficient interest.
Please see the class calendar for current sessions and registration information.
